Additional information on some of the players:

J.R. Crowel, senior, Atlantic.  Crowel led all pitchers in the state in any classification with 136 strikeouts. He was 10-1 with a 1.38 ERA for a team that went 6-10 with others on the mound.

Offensively, Crowel batted .409 with 23 RBI, 23 runs scored and 18 stolen bases in 24 games played. All of his offensive numbers were among the county leaders and he led the county's large-school players in stolen bases.
**South Florida Sun-Senitnel article

Brandon Gomes:Congratulations to Durfee senior right-hander Brandon Gomes for being named the Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year. The Tulane-bound ace is 5-2 with a 1.28 ERA and 79 strikeouts in 49 innings. Even more impressive is the fact that Gomes carries a 3.9 grade-point average, ranking him in the top five of his class. . . (Boston Herald 5/26/2002)

Brandon Gomes RHP/6'1/175 Fall River HS Fall River, MA
Gomes is another not so big right-hander. He shows a high 80s to 90s mph arm and one of the smoothest deliveries you'll see. He has a MLB average breaking ball that should get better with his excellent quick arm action.
Perfectgame.org 7/2001

Billy Mohl: Mohl was breaking wood bats with his 90-92 mph fastball. Even more impressive was the fact that he was commanding 3 other pitches that include a good curveball, slider and change-up. Mr Mohl put himself front and center in next years draft. He really helped himself a ton in Jupiter. Signing with Tulane.  - Perfectgameusa.org - World Wood Bat Championship 2001
Tyler Kimmons: (from Perfectgame.org - June 2001)

57. Tyler Kimmons RHP/6'6/175 Mandeville Mandeville, LA
Extremely projectable, arm works and ball sinks.

Matt Goebel: Pitched a good game with a consistent 87-89 fastball that touched 90 mph.  Perfectgame.org - 7/2001 World Wood Bat Championship.
Chris Sepanski: Despite losing to a lower-seeded team, 8-5 to West Aurora, Wednesday to end the season, Sepanski either scored or drove in every run. Now, he will wait for a big offer from the professional ranks at this week's amateur draft or pack his bags for New Orleans to accept a full scholarship at baseball powerhouse Tulane University. - Chicago Press Republican 6/4/02
Brian Bogusevic: During the 2001 season, in which Bogusevic guided De La Salle to a 30-6 overall record and an 18-1 mark in the Catholic League, he batted .509 with eight home runs and 68 RBI, coming within five RBI of tying the state record. On the mound, Bogusevic, who has earned back-to-back all-Catholic League accolades in each of the last two seasons, was 7-1 with a 2.79 ERA, striking out 61 batters in 57 2/3 innings of work.

Baseballamerica / Gatorade Illinoise Player of the year

Brian's High School Announces Signing

Ryan Martin: It was particularly gratifying for Jays’ head coach Dave Moreau and Martin, who ended his final year by earning the District 9-5A MVP award in basketball then pitching his school to a state baseball championship. His victory over the Bucs, which had won the crown in 1998, 2000 and 2001 – coupled with a complete game (9-5) win over Destrehan in the quarterfinals – gave Martin a 10-3 record for the year.  (Clarion Herald)
Ted Reedy: Reddy is 4-0 this year with a 1.62 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings. He chose the Green Wave over Harvard, Cornell and Georgetown (from Ihigh.com).

Reedy has a nice baseball body and some interesting tools. He throws, runs and hits. It looks like he might hit with some power. He has a ways to go as a pitcher, but he has a cahance. We like him better as a position player.  Perfectgame.org
